ControlPoint Inc. One of 11 Start-ups Selected for Plug and Play Accelerator Program

Campbell, Calif. –   ControlPoint, Inc., an animal diagnostics company focused on developing tests that can be used by anyone, anywhere, has been selected as one of 11 animal health start-ups in Plug and Play Topeka, a global industry-specific accelerator program. The program, which has been extended from three months to nine months, includes companies from nine countries, specifically, the United States, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Argentina, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Israel.

The startups, chosen by the program's founding partners—including Cargill, Evergy, Bimini Pet Health, and Hill's Pet Nutrition—will participate in business development webinars and mentor sessions with industry experts. For the first time, the program will include five in-person events and a series of themed virtual events featuring industry thought leaders and startup pitches.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for ControlPoint,” CEO Paula Walker said. “This program can offer us the opportunity to build relationships with corporate partners and other emerging animal health companies attempting to fill the unmet needs in the companion animal marketplace.”

Formed in 2020, ControlPoint is currently developing a point-of-care test for multiple pathogens by which veterinarians can be confident in their diagnosis of canine infectious respiratory disease (CIRD). The test will be easy-to-use, fast, and will provide results for a wide range of pathogens, allowing veterinarians to expand their practice, increase their margins and provide better patient care.

Since its start in the spring of 2021, over 100 startups have graduated from the Plug and Play Topeka accelerator program. Each year, the program will develop two accelerator groups comprising 10–15 animal health and ag-tech startups.
